Plot
The miraculous story of the once and future heavyweight champion of the world. Fueled by an impoverished childhood, Foreman channels his anger into becoming the World Heavyweight Champion, followed by a near-death experience that takes him from the ring to the pulpit. But when he sees his community struggle, he reclaims his title, becoming the oldest and most improbable heavyweight champion ever.
My Thoughts
The film chronicles Foreman's journey from his impoverished childhood in Texas to his rise to become the youngest heavyweight champion in history. It also explores Foreman's religious faith and his second career as a preacher after retiring from boxing.
The film is directed by George Tillman Jr. and stars Khris Davis as Foreman. Davis gives a physically and emotionally committed performance, bringing Foreman's story to life in vivid detail. The supporting cast is also strong, with Forest Whitaker as Foreman's trainer and Regina Hall as his wife, although its not without flaws. The pacing can be slow at times, and the film's focus on Foreman's religious faith may not appeal to all viewers, although I personally had no issue with that aspect of the film and found it refreshing and an integral part of who Foreman is as a man. Overall, the film is an inspiring and uplifting film that tells the story of a truly remarkable man.
The A/V quality on the disc is very good, but some of the CG work is distracting. You’ll know what I mean when you see it. While the film was digitally shot, it has somewhat of noisy look (maybe intentional). The audio is the superior aspect of the presentation with great use of the soundstage and the LFE channel in the boxing scenes. In fact, this somewhat surprised me on how engaging it was.

Conclusion
I’m a fan of biopics and this is a very good look at how George Foreman became the man we all see today. I followed him as a boxer when I was young and enjoyed reliving some of the moments that I have a vague recollection of but I found the more personal side of story just as compelling. Highly recommended.
