So I know the specs on the RS-1100 and RS-1000 vs my RS-400. They share the same Contrast numbers, slightly higher light output, etc. So on the surface the newer units bring DTM, native 4K, and some slightly better improved features and I wont have to go through manual mode changes and spoofing and all kinds of curves and modes etc to get something decent from it.
So my question then becomes, what will the overall improvement of the experience and content in the screen be for me in HDR movies? Is the color gamut still restricted like the 400 series was and not close to that if the NX7 full P3?
Just trying to judge the overall wow factor this upgrade and investment will bring me or will I be underwhelmed and need to go to an NX7 and a couple or few more thousand $ to get that wow factor in experience?

HDR and 4K have come a long way since the RS400. You might start by checking out the 3 reviews here -

I went from an RS500 to an RS2100, so a pretty similar move. As Craig said, but especially the HDR is a huge jump from that generation. From the shootout comparisons a few months ago the new JVCs knocked it out of the park vs even the new Sony laser models, including the RS1100. Check out the TSR report (https://www.thescreeningroomav.com/single-post/results-of-the-tsr-laser-projector-shootout?mc_cid=b024669d8b&mc_eid=4db7954232) which has some comments about how strongly the 1100 performed.

The RS1100 is great projector and should offer you a noticeable improvement in many areas including contrast, HDR and sharpness/detail. Plus you'll gain some HDMI 2.1 functionality like 4K120p which is handy to have for those who like to play video games.
