I'm hammered. Full report on Sunday. I'll say this much - the new JVC firmware for the current laser projectors totally rocks. The best laser dimming on the new mode 3 I've ever seen. Even did a few torture tests.
-
No two ways about it - the star of the show at Cedia for me was the new JVC firmware coming out in November. Dynamic laser dimming works fantastic now - best I've ever seen. And there are other improvements too.

Sony - I thought the XW5000 looked very sharp. The demo material and the room did not allow one to judge contrast or black levels.
The XW7000 demo was weird. They left the lights on with an ALR screen. The screen had a lot of surface sheen / artifacts which were distracting. Hard to judge the projector at all.
They didn't show the XW6000.
The GTZ380 demo looked great, as you would expect from an $80K projector, although they mounted the screen way too high for some reason.

Stewart screens were most everywhere.

Were you guys able to see the NZ7 and NP5 in action. Will the new upcoming firmware benefit the NZ models more than the NP5(RS1100)?
Also, is the 20% more brightness on the NZ7 over the NP5 accurate or are they closer than that in actual lumens?
Regards,
Randy

Stewart screens were most everywhere.
Well I have had a few Stewart screens over the years.
Thanks to Kris Deering for his excellent review in Sound & Vision on it.

I was sold.
The one I now have is the Stewart ST130 G4 and it is KILLER.

I've seen no JVC projectors other than the RS4100. No demos of the other models. As far as brightness, we need Dylan to do a review on the RS2100 since he did one on the RS1100 -

how did CEDIA compare to years past?

how did CEDIA compare to years past?
Maybe a little lower attendance, and a few less demos, but overall everything I wanted to see was there. SV Sound was there for the first time in a long time ( they usually only are at CES ).
Good to see people we haven't seen in 2 1/2 years too.

Good review. Thanks for the link. Yes, I agree...it would be great to see a review of the RS2100 by Dylan.

I can't believe you took a picture of me stealing your fry!:)

The first person I ran into at the JVC booth.
-
This is him carrying me out after the two demos (regular and private AVScience). I fainted.
-
And finally I let him drive me around.

It was great seeing SV Sound back at Cedia this year. I always like their speakers when I demo them at CES. And of course I've owned SVS subwoofers for close to 2 decades now.
