Studio: Warner Brothers
Release Date: September 20, 2022
Rating: PG
Film: 4/5

Plot
When their parents’ divorce, Michael (Jason Patric) and Sam Emerson (Corey Haim) move with their mother to their grandfather’s house in a California town nicknamed, “The Murder Capital of the World.” Soon after arriving, Michael gets involved with a hell-raising motorcycle gang of vampires with a charismatic leader (Kiefer Sutherland).  When Sam becomes involved with the Frog Brothers (Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander), who confess to being undercover Vampire hunters, he realizes it’s up to them to save Michael and the rest of the town from the vampire gang.

My Thoughts
Who would have thought I’d review two horror films in the same month, let alone, the same week, but here we are? This film came out the summer before my freshman year of college and I remember standing in line in San Jose, CA, at the Century theaters to see it with a group of friends. In all honesty, if it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t have gone and seen it, but in hindsight, I’m glad I did.

This is a film I’ve watched multiple times over the past 35 years and it holds up surprisingly well. Like the previously reviewed Poltergeist, the film spawned a couple of sub-par sequels. Vampire films became all the rage after this hit theaters with such titles as Blade, Interview with the Vampire, and of course, the Twilight series, but what makes this work so well is the chemistry with the cast, great storytelling, and a good dose of humor to compliment the horror aspects. One other thing that appealed to me is it was filmed in Santa Cruz, CA, a city that I had been to many times since I lived just over the mountains from and spend many summer days at the beach and boardwalk there, so seeing sights that were familiar has always been entertaining.

Video 9/10

Audio 8/10/10 (DTS-HD MA 5.1)

Conclusion
The is probably my favorite vampire film of the ones mentioned earlier mainly due to the cast and humorous aspects of the screenplay. Even though I’ve seen it many times over the years, it still entertains me and despite its horror elements it appeals to both my wife and I if we’re in the right mood. The 4K restoration is outstanding over the previously Blu-ray releases although I would have loved to have seen a Dolby Atmos audio track. Regardless, this one is a must-own for fans.

Soooooo many quotable lines. It’s rediculous
this and my cousin Vinny might be top 2 most quotable comedies

I can watch My Cousin Vinny endlessly and still laugh. Pesci's best role as an actor IMO and Marisa Tomei is smokin' hot as well (and deserved the Oscar that she won). Just a great screenplay and fun film.

any idea about the subsequent movies? Are they any good?

Original is this one -- The Lost Boys (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lost_Boys) (1987)

Subsequent one's are below.

Lost Boys: The Tribe (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Boys:_The_Tribe) (2008 )

Lost Boys: The Thirst (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lost_Boys:_The_Thirst) (2010)

The Tribe got pretty bad reviews, but The Thirst is supposed to be better with fast-paced action and some humor. I personally didn't see either one of the sequels though.

Finally watched it last night. Was ok. Not sure how it’s become a classic but was ok

Corey Feldman bugged the crap out of me with his fake tough guy voice lol.

And this is coming from someone who LOVES 80’s movies

It's just a fun movie. Plus, it's fun to marvel at how young some of these actors are in films. It's like a time machine.

I rented this title on Kaleidescape, I love the movie. The PQ was terrible. I had high hopes for this one, but I was really disappointed. Poltergeist on the other hand looked really good, it's a keeper. Both being older movies, I wish they would have put some effort into Lost Boys.

Well, the picture quality on the 4K disc has been universally praised -
