Post by: AVSJeff on May 25, 2022, 11:22:59 AM
I'm curious to see what is the most popular EQ software and the pros and cons.

Audyssey. Why is because that's what is on my Denon X8500H, and it works fairly well. Especially with the phone app, although I've been told the new optional computer app is worth the money and works really well.

Added - Also, REW and a Mini DSP HD for the subs.

Trinnov processing and then REW to fine tune things.

I wonder why Mike went the Dirac route, and then went back to a Marantz.

I tried Dirac in my room with two different devices. For movies, I did not notice much, if any difference when compared to Audyssey. That is with using the Audyssey app on a touchpad and doing some adjustment after Audyssey. Dirac was finicky and Audyssey was not.

This is One persons experience. It is well known how poor audyssey is at room correction not to mention how it neuters bass and you have to tweak the results to get it flat at the sun crossover region

Dirac while not as automated as audyssey is head a shoulders better at room correction than audyssey. It not only corrects the FR but also time aligns and helps corrects reflections in real time. My experience I went Dirac. Then back to audyssey (thinking Dirac wasn’t worth the premium) and then right back to Dirac and will never doubt again lol.
