What a great NFL season and playoffs this has been.

Hopefully the upcoming Super Bowl will be just as exciting!

As a diehard LSU fan who lived the dream season of a lifetime with Joe Burrow & Ja'Marr Chase in 2019, I've become an unabashed Bengals bandwagoner. Burrow has just completely transformed that franchise with his ability, attitude, confidence and expectations. I did not really expect the win over KC today - beating a great QB like that twice in 2 months, the 2nd one at their rowdy stadium? Holy moly. They're already undersdogs again but people are starting to realize, Burrow doesn't have a ceiling.

Edit: And yes, the last 2 weeks have been OUTSTANDING playoff excitement and drama. I mean... last week we had 3 straight games all end with a walkoff FG at exactly :04 on the clock. Are you kidding me? Then the last one goes to OT. That this weekend didn't quite match that is just a testament to how crazy good the previous one was. Really helps make up for the mostly lousy first weekend. (Not a fan of 7 teams... or 17 games tbh.)

As a longtime 49er fan, I'm hurting tonight. We played a "C" game when we needed at least a "B" game to beat the Rams and lost a 10 point lead in the 4th quarter (reminds me of the Super Bowl two years ago). I'll be rooting for Cincinnati in two weeks!

Jimmy g is NOT a big game QB
Well, he had two healthy seasons with SF and took them to a Super Bowl and Championship game. He's also one hell of a leader on the team (according to his teammates). He wasn't the reason they lost yesterday...frankly, without him they would have never made the playoffs. He carried the team for nearly w months with the best play of his career. He also played the past month with a torn ligament in his right hand. While he's no Montana, Young, Brady, etc., he is a winning QB (37-16) and when he doesn't play the 49ers were something like 8-25 without him. That's quite a big difference.

I just hope the game is close. Also, I am looking forward to the super bowl ads. :)

Interesting enough, this is the first super bowl where there is no Number 1, 2, or 3 ranked teams involved.

Both teams here are ranked number 4.

AFC standings

1. Tennessee Titans 12-5
2. Kansas City Chiefs 12-5
3. Buffalo Bills 11-6
4. Cincinnati Bengals 10-7
5. Las Vegas Raiders 10-7
6. New England Patriots 10-7
7. Pittsburgh Steelers 9-7-1

NFC standings

1. Green Bay Packers 13-4
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 13-4
3. Dallas Cowboys 12-5
4. Los Angeles Rams 12-5
5. Arizona Cardinals 11-6
6. San Francisco 49ers 10-7
7. Philadelphia Eagles 9-8

Not only that but also the 2nd straight SB at the stadium of one of the teams, after zero occurrences of that in the first 54.

Also - what happened to this thread? Formatting has gotten weird and squeezed into a very narrow window. (Reading on Chrome/Win 10.)

Mine's still screwup up. When I hit "reply," everything gets squeezed to the left (Win 11, Chrome).

I’m just sorry that the game will not be on Fox, although Al Michaels is the best. For the most part fox has been putting the playoff games on my cable in 4K. The colours just stand out and the picture is very sharp.

I’m actually not a football fan but the last two weekends have been just fine. I have no vested interest in the wins And I always root for a tie because those games are exciting. Well I got my wish a couple of times.

If it's not close it's probably the Rams winning. Bengals have been scrapping & scraping by. I'm going with them to win a close one in the 20s. If the winning score is 35+ I don't think they can hang, though Joe "BRRRow" is definitely capable of heating up with Chase & Higgins. Was just talking to a friend and pointed out that he hasn't actually had great games the last 2 but they still won.

For me as an LSU fan it's great b/c I have Andrew Whitworth and OBJ to be happy for on the other side if the Rams do win.

Very good game last night. Not quite an all time classic maybe but a very good close game. Congrats to the Rams, they were the better team.

If Cincy had even an average OL it probably goes the other way. Man they need to figure that out and protect Burrow's and their future.

The officials were horrible at the end of the game. The hit on Kupp was completely legal so there shouldn't have been offsetting penalties. Then there was the holding call on the linebacker that was very suspect. To add insult to injury, the foul never should have happened because a flag should have been thrown for a false start on the offensive line:

Maybe they were trying to make things even for the blown call coming out of the half when the WR grabbed Ramsey's face mask. Why the hell doesn't the NFL have full time officials? It's not like they can't afford it.

yeah, overall a good close game.

Cincinnati needs to really protect their QB.. The guy can only take so many hits and if this continues, his life in the NFL will be very short.

Yesterday, Burrow was sacked  6 times

He actually was sacked 7 times. Tied a record.

Officiating was typically bad. You let them play the whole game. Then at the most crucial time you start calling things?

Yeah, 100% agree about the call on Wilson and the about face in the way they were calling the game. Seems like it can't be an NFL game these days without noticeable ref screw ups.

I remember thinking something was off on the snap on that play and saying something to my small gathering but then of course the holding call on Wilson swept attention away and I forgot about it.

Burrow was sacked 9 times vs Titans, another 7 last night. He was sacked the most of any QB in the regular season. He probably won't, but that dude needs to take at least a month off and let his body heal.

yeah, 7 sacks.. Still a lot for one person in one game to take.

Burrow needs to learn to be like Brady, essentially, throw the ball as fast as he gets it so that he doesn't get sacked and his body gets more hurt with each game, the body will only take so much pain till it starts to wear down... Brady survived so long due to his keen eye sight and trust that his receivers will be where he throws the ball to allow him quick release to get out of trouble from running rushers.

I really enjoyed that game, but I had a hard time understanding why the Rams kept trying to rush up the center- didn't really work out so good for them for the most part. Fortunately, the one time they really needed that play to work, it did.

i feel like all football has become (especially big games) is run run run the first threee quarters.  shorten  the game.  then do nothing but throw the final quarter.  hence why teams with great QB's always win

pretty predictable and boring

Brady may get rid of it quickly but he has at least 1 more second to check down.  burrows was getting it out super fast and still barely had any time.  its his OL thats the problem....bot his decision making (time)

Cincinnati definitely needs to beef up their O-line. I am sure that will be a high priority for them in the off season..

they chose to take a receiver over a lineman this past years draft....which worked to an extent lol.  but yeah that was their one flaw tbh

I have discussed that decision ad nauseum elsewhere, lol. The 2 things that put it over to Chase for me are: 1) they did sign a top 10 rated OT in free agency; 2) Chase & Burrow have a special connection from playing together at LSU and winning a championship. If the Bengals decided to draft OL in the 1st, they almost certainly wouldn't have signed the FA - and the guy they would have drafted, Penei Sewell, was not as good as the next OT that got drafted. So Cincy signed 1 OL in FA, and then drafted OL in rounds 2, 4, 6. The guy they took in 2 was an OT in college that they converted to G, which is a work in progress and hard to assess at the moment if that was a good move. But they passed over a C that KC took who ended up being the #1 graded guy at his position. So in hindsight, if you could re-draft I think they'd still take Chase but would swap the 2nd rd pick.

The Bengals offensive line has been weakest in the middle so it made sense for the Rams to try attacking there, but I guess the Bengals also planned around that. So LA adjusted by overloading on the right side (their left) and started crushing Burrow with that.

The weather was too nice in LA for people to watch the game. Plus, their fan base is very weak (it's why 65% of the seats versus the 49ers were filled with 49er fans).

You would think it was Cincinnati vs Detroit.. lol.

Noticed that, but I'm sure it's the Stafford connection.

What jumped out at me was Pittsburgh right behind Detroit. No high profile player connection that I can see, so I guess it's just a "football town".
