I've had my home theater for over 10 years now. It is in a " bonus room " over our two car garage. The best thing I did was build a " projector closet " to hide the projector, and install two electric screens ( one 16:9, one 2.35:1 ).

Nice setup! I like the projector closet and the device rack. Nicely hidden away, yet able to move about and make -- shall we say "adjustments"? (New equipment, that is. ;D)

It's totally modular with the shelving. Has worked great. I just vent hot air into the attic with an inline duct fan, switched in the closet. Never gets hot on there.

It does, but those screen shot photos were from my RS600 - just for reference only. I'd better try and take some new photos. I need to borrow a better camera!

None of these are with a flash ( screen shots ). Nothing more is getting painted - the room is plenty dark, and the picture is damn good now !

The HDR pre set, but it's been calibrated by Jeff Meier of Accucal, so it's no longer just the " out of the box " settings. He did a great job !

Using the HDR color profile, custom calibrated. I'm in mid laser power with 38 foot lamberts. I didn't really want to run in high laser. It's plenty bright as it is.

I got a new Parasound New Classic 275 v.2, 90 w x 2 Class AB Amplifier. Bridged for use with the center channel
( 200 watts / 4 ohm ). Performance test underway !

A few new screen shots since Chad B re- calibrated the RS4500, using Arve's Tool to install custom HDR gamma curves. Made a huge difference !

Re - painted the soffit over the screens with Rosco Velour Black paint last night, to better match the back walls and eliminate the Rustoleum " flat " black paint shine. Much better now ! These photo's are over exposed, or it would be hard to see anything !

Some old photos of previous home theaters. This one had a stacked NEC HT1000 ( 4:3 aspect ratio - good for 16:9 and 4:3 movies ) and an Optoma H79 720p projector - which i used for 16:9 and 2.35:1 movies ). the soffit was ventilated. Obviously I had no concept back then that a white room was bad. I have a feeling that painting it black would have caused a divorce ( which happened eventually anyway ), but it was more of a " media room ", and it worked at the time.
The NEC HT1000 was bought in July 2003 - they were $ 4000.00, and one of the best home theater projectors at the time. The Optoma H79 was bought from ( drum roll please ) - AV Science, Feb. 21st ( two days before my birthday ! ), 2005 ! that projector was $ 6199.00 at the time !

Recent theater improvements -
Installed a pair of SVS SB2000 subwoofers in the front of the theater. They are hidden behind curtains - but when something blows up on the screen, you know they are there !
Moved the two PC12 Plus cylinder subs in the back out of the corners, and got them as even to each other and the front subs position as practical.
Installed SVS SoundPath Subwoofer Isolation System feet on the PC12 Plus subs.
Lowered the center channel to right above the screen ( not as easy as it would sound ).
Plugged one port in the PC12 Plus cylinders for 16Hrz mode.
Moved my seating forward about 2 inches.
Set each subwoofer at the identical volume with an SPL meter.
Re - ran Audyssey ( front subs as one subwoofer, rear subs as one subwoofer ).
Those improvements really tightened the bass, and evened out the bass over my 14' wide sectional sofa. Any " boomy-ness " is gone, and it hammers you harder and quicker. 4 subs really make a difference. The center channel sounds better now too. It made a noticeable difference. Especially when the floor boards feel like they are rolling under your feet during the shelling in Hacksaw Ridge !!

Other improvements - I re - oriented my Panamorph Paladin DCR lens, fine tuned it's positioning, and now the picture geometry is nearly perfect, from nearly the minimum throw distance ! The picture looks so good with scope, I'm re -watching all sorts of movies !

Awesome setup, Craig. So you now have 4 subs near the four corners of the room. This usually gives the best frequency response at the seats and can help with room modes. The tough part is time aligning them all to reach the seats at the same time. Mark Seaton is amazing at this. Now all you need is some Crowson tactile transducers to levitate the seating. 8)

It already feels like the seats and floor are levitating during " Hacksaw Ridge ", along with a gut punch from explosions ! :o

I originally built my theater before Dolby Atmos was even a twinkle in Dolby's eye. Hence my surround speakers were mounted too high on the wall. I revised the surround speaker heights to enable Dolby Atmos audio with height speakers.
Dropping the surrounds 24" was a lot harder than it sounds - due to drywall repair. Took two evenings after work ! Plus another evening to replace my X7200 with a new X8500, and install two new height speakers ( oh attic, how I hate you ) !

I needed a clever solution to mount one surround speaker where a window is. This is one thing that kept me from doing this sooner. However, i got clever - and got some 1" square steel tube.
You would never know there was a window back there.

Considering the speaker wire dropped out of the attic / ceiling to the previous surround location at the top of the wall, there was an incredible amount of drywall removal and repair to drop these speakers 24" . But, it's finished. Thank goodness !

Thank you. I'm using Martin Logan Motion FX for the surrounds ( 2 side, 2 rear ), and Motion 4 for the height speakers
( 2 front, 2 rear ). Watched " Enders Game " on 4K Blu-ray to test the Dolby Atmos use of all 13 speakers last night. Definitely more 3 dimensional sound field ! It sounded good before, but it's better now !

I just had a guest say ( after watching " M. I. : Fallout ) my theater sounds better than it ever has - thanks to both the X8500 and adding 2 ceiling speakers ( and lowering my side / rear surrounds ). It's nice when guests can hear and see the improvements we do and make a mention of them.

I would invite friends over for a movie night, they ask what is playing, I give them a movie name and their response is "Oh, I saw that already on my phone/tablet the other night." How disappointed I felt, seeing as they have no clue what that movie really looks like and feels like.
I do believe that the younger than 40 crowd has no time for this, while the older crowd enjoys the gathering for time to spend with friends and as a plus a good movie.

I replaced my Emotiva XPA-200 amp and the Parasound New Classic 275 v.2 running my center channel with a new Parasound Halo A 52+ running my main front speakers ( Wide / L / C / R / Wide ). The X8500 can play seriously clean and loud now. So far it would seem to be a good upgrade. Probably total overkill, but what the heck.

I'm envious of your high ceilings, and unobstructed view to the screen.
Mine is in a converted basement room. My ceilings are under eight feet and I have a support column (almost in front of the front left speaker) to deal with. "First world problems", I know.

This is an over garage bonus room. The high ceilings really help with the audio - ceiling Atmos / height speakers have plenty of space. There is no room in the attic to run wires though - the same scissor truss design that gives me tall ceilings also gives a tiny attic !

It REALLY bothered by dealer because he wanted everyone to see everything. Honestly, my friends would not know a Stewart's screen from a sun screen. And they never heard words such as "Krell," "Oppo," and "Day Sequerra." If it ain't a Sony or Panasonic, they don't care.
I wanted to show the amps in my garage, but I don't know how to put a [picture in a response here. Can someone tell me?

Mostly I don't want to ever have to hear the projector ! They don't have projectors in the room at a commercial cinema, why should I ? To post photos - use " attach " at the bottom of your post !

My left and right are in room towers, the center is fairly large and sits on a stand, and the sub sits in the front as well. My surrounds are GoldenEar in-ceiling speakers.
I would love to hide it all but I don't have the space to build an acoustically transparent screen.

When my wife and I looked for a house, it had to have a good space for a home theater, a wine cellar and an indoor climbing wall ! :)

Adding two more SB2000's has helped the LFE equation quite a bit. I don't feel like the subs need to work too hard to make the room shudder during war movies now ! And they are hidden - at least the ones in the front ( nobody should be looking behind anyway ).
Next up - another 10 bass traps, coming soon ! 8)

Well said Mike. And the bass traps seem to really tighten up the bass. I can tell there is a bit of " boomy-ness " on the right side of the theater still, but I have a bunch of bass traps already ordered for that side.

GIK bass traps installed so far ( more are coming in 2 weeks ) - 244 Bass Trap ( 2' x 4' ) with one 242 acoustic panel I already had.

I painted and installed some GIK Gridfusor ceiling diffusers. It's improved the sound for sure. Dialog is cleaner.

Yes - based on the info and dimensions I gave them, they suggested this would work well. The exact distance from the front soffit was determined using the mirror trick on the ceiling. I could see a speaker in the mirror on the ceiling from between 46" and 70" from the front soffit, depending on which seat I sat in. Since the Gridfusors are 24" x 24", that worked out perfectly. I don't need any more dampening - between velvet curtains, the giant black rug and 3 acoustic panels, it's plenty dampened sound wise. All the bass traps that aren't on the front wall are getting scatter plates as a result. So far, I can hear the improvement. But more bass traps are needed on the right side - that side of the theater is enclosed. That's where 7 of the next 10 bass traps are going.

Four new GIK 244 Bass Traps with scatter plates arrived. I was able to verify these will fit at the top of the walls above my curtains, so I'm going to order more now.

Other bass traps already installed behind the curtains up front - GIK Tri Traps ( I have more coming next week to extend them higher up the corner ) and Monster Bass Traps on the walls behind the curtains -

3547 cubic feet. I should point out that most of the bass traps are 1' x 4' , and some are 2' x 2'. If they were all 2' x 4' not only would that be a lot, but they wouldn't fit. 1' x 4' panels fit in a lot of places !

I know what you mean. We are having an engagement party for our daughter, this Saturday. Expecting over 200. Using reception hall at our church, so no food prep, but have to get everything else ready.

These bass traps are really tightening up ( for lack of a better term ) the bass in the room. It sounds " cleaner " ( also for lack of a better term ).

Six - four SB2000's in front, and two PC 12 Plus subs in the back. No MiniDSP. I use a Radio Shack SLM to level match them right now. I results are quite good in every seat. More subs and more bass traps seem to be evening out the LFE across all seats, which are currently about 16' wide. The enclosed side of the theater is losing the tendency to be a bit " boomy ". Testing the beginning of The Greatest Showman after re - running Audyssey showed that the bass still shakes the room like before. The 17 bass traps just remove the tendency for one side of the room to sound more boomy and a bit muddled perhaps.

Why not. It already sounds really good, and it's going to sound even better. My end game is 30 bass traps. Then I'm out of places to put them. So I just need to order 4 more ! ::)

You could definitely benefit from a Mini-DSP (or two given how many subs you have). My suspicion is you're probably losing some output at some frequencies because of the way the waves are moving through the room. One of these days I'll have to come over with REW and run some sweeps :)

Maybe, but I'd need a lot more subwoofer cables. Mike also pointed out that the Mini-DSP would only affect the bass at the main listening position - which I really don't have. I have 8+ seats over 16'.

Not necessarily...it can flatten the bass response throughout the room. Also, it allows the subs to "play nice" together. Once setup properly, all the subs act as "one" and when you run Audyssey treats them that way. I have a new MiniDSP HD coming my way later this week and I'll take some screenshots of the measurements to show you what happens when you have multiple subs that aren't integrated together. I'm sure it all sounds fine, but it can sound even better in my experience--especially if you have different subwoofers in the same room.

The bass was pretty good in my usual seat, but I'm currently working on making it better for the other seats. And it is improving, because I have been testing different seats I don't usually sit in. A Mini-DSP should be the last thing anyway, after I get done futzing with treatments. I am done adding subwoofers - I'm more or less out of room, and it sounds really good.

I don't even sit in the money seat. I sit next to my wife who likes the chaise lounge seat on the end of the sectional - the " Honey seat ". ???

When installing your subs, did you gain match them first? This requires placing a piece of tape on the floor to mark the front of the woofer and then running a 50 or 60Hz tone through your AVR/Pre-pro. If you can, turn off your main speakers and only have your sub playing. Measure the value at a single point in the room (center seat). Then take sub #2 and measure the same value using the volume knob on the sub to match that sub to the first. Do this with all of your subs.
This takes the overall room boost out based on placement. Once completed, put all their subwoofers in their respective positions. If you aren't going to use a MiniDSP, then at this point set the volume level in your pre/pro using a calibration disc or test tone from your gear.

That's exactly what I did. I will double check them again after getting the rest of the bass traps installed, since I'll need to re - calibrate everything again anyway.

Quite interesting how a lot of bass traps ( with scatter plates so as to not over absorb the higher frequencies ) effects the audio in my theater. Dialog is clearer and " crisper " at low or high volume levels. Which is good, since my 63+ year old ears aren't the best. Bass is very even now across all 8+ seats ( 16' horizontally ). Bass slam hasn't been reduced at all - but for lack of a better term, it sounds less " bloated ". If anything, it punches you a bit harder. It's been fun and interesting so far.

Don't need those. Being on a framed wood floor over a garage, the 6 subs I have already make it feel like the floor is rippling under your feet. Even Disney movies have great bass in my room ! Any more bass in my room will make the picture shake in relation to the screen. War movies already bitch slap you in my theater ! :-[ The bass in The Joker ( watching again tonight with friends that haven't seen it ) or Lucy especially really rock the room. I am going to try plugging the ports on my cylinder subs and running them sealed to see if that will better bass with the 4 SB2000's up front.
Besides - those wouldn't physically fit in my theater, and there is a limit to what my wife will enjoy. Plus, the vibrations might make the folks that need to pee often pee even more! Too many breaks in the movie. ;D

Did not know you are on a raised wood floor. That will make all the difference in the world. Sealed will get you the extra oomph down low for even more floor shake.

Yep. I have four subs, right behind my seats, to go with the five 18" I have up front in my baffle wall (3 in LCR's and 2 subs in baffle wall). My theater is on the second floor, so plenty of floor shake. I run sealed, so that I can boost down low. What to be able to hear and feel the helicopter blades and the wing beats in movies like Avatar. The sonic blast scene in Hulk is pretty cool, when you can feel the wave blasts.

I have been having thoughts on replacing my 2 front 18's with a pair of sealed 24's. I do miss the very low end. With the four 18's behind the seats, my mid range tune is great, but pretty much lacking anything from 18 on down. The 24's should fix that. Haven't modeled it yet but soon.

I sealed my two PC 12 Plus cylinder subs today, re-balanced / re-calibrated everything including Audyssey, and WOW. LFE - not as loud on the ears while at the same time you feel it a lot more. The wife came in and said " the house is vibrating ". Then she said " oh, you're watching Lucy " ( my test disc )!

I bought and watched Ford v Ferrari last night. Outstanding movie and crank it LOUD...the Atmos track is pretty impressive. I bought JoJo Rabbit as well, but won't watch that until this weekend when my son and his girlfriend are in town.

The movie itself was great, the picture quality was beautiful (clean, detailed, natural and realistic looking - just left me with a big smile on my face!), and the soundtrack was incredibly immersive and balanced.
I also filled a major gap in my movie watching showing The Shining in 4k a few nights ago. Somehow, I had never gotten around to watching this. I was amazed at how good the picture quality was.

Craig, reading reviews of the new LoA it looks like everyone agrees they did a fantastic job with both the video and audio. It seems this is only currently available as part of a big set of classic films - is that how you got it or did you find a source for the individual film?

I decided to get the box set for a couple of reasons. I love L o A so that was a no brainer. I've actually never seen either Jerry Maguire or A League Of Their Own - and I do like Cruise and Hanks films, so decided adding those to my collection would be good. Dr. Strangelove is another favorite, so what the heck. I'm not sure I've seen Mr. Smith Goes To Washington either ( or it's been decades and was on TV ), and I do like classics. Buying a set like this will encourage the studios to restore more films and give us more 4K remasters. And there you have it.

My wife and I have been working our way though the Marvel movies, catching up on ones we've never seen and re-watching the ones we had seen prior to their being on 4K Blu-ray. I really enjoyed re-watching Iron Man 3. I couldn't remember much about that movie, but it was a hoot.

I tend to agree you can skip The Incredible Hulk. It has a different actor than who plays him in the rest of the Avengers movies. And his origin story in this movie doesn't really matter that much.
I would not skip Spider Man: Homecoming which sits between Civil War and Dr. Strange in my viewing order. The character takes on more importance later, especially in End Game.
The followup Spiderman: Far From Home takes place after the events of End Game. (I will watch any movie that features Zendaya.)

So funny that you posted this...My wife and I have been going through all of the Marvel movies as well this month (23 movies in less than 31 days). We are on "Endgame" tonight and we'll watch Spiderman: Far From Home tomorrow night to complete the adventure. We chose to watch the films by their theatrical release date so the bonus footage would tie into the next film (in most cases) and it's been a total blast. While I've seen all of the movies at least twice (theatrically and then on home video), I've picked up a ton of references that went completely over my head the first time (or I'd forgotten about) that tie the movies together. What's even more interesting is some of the films I didn't care for in the past (Thor: Ragnorok, for example), I enjoyed a lot more because of the tie-ins that were fresh in my mind.
One thing I will say is that Marvel had a plan in the beginning (an ambitious one at that) and they stuck to it from beginning to end and the 23 movies are a marvel to watch and experience (pun intended). The quality is off the charts and other than a couple of cast changes in the beginning (Hulk and War Machine--both of the original actors fired (idiots!)), they were able to keep the gang together which definitely helped tell a 50+ hour story and keep it fresh throughout the entire experience.
Have fun on the continuing adventure!

One last thing...I don't have all of the films in 4K (off the top of my head, probably about half 4K and the other half Blu-ray). I can tell the difference between the two though...Iron Man in 4K is a pretty good upgrade over the original Paramount Blu-ray. The ones I don't have in 4K I'll eventually buy when they go on sale, but I won't pay full retail for them unless I win the lottery on Wednesday :).

Some of the movies I had on Blu-ray I was on the fence about upgrading to 4K - like Iron Man 2 & 3. Then someone posted a link to a Best Buy Steelbook sale - one was $ 7.50 and the other $ 15.00. The ones I had never seen just had to be bought in 4K though - that would include all of the Thor films, the Captain America films and the Avenger films ( I missed a lot of movies ). It makes a lot more sense watching them in order now. The picture quality even on Iron Man has not disappointed one bit !

I'm taking this under advisement as the 4K Blu-ray is only $14.00. David Vaughn - what say you ? Is it important to the story line enough to be in or out?
Craig, I say get them all, especially the Spiderman films...the relationship between he and Tony Stark is key to the Universe. I'm a bit of OCD though...I always need to complete a set :)
As for The Hulk, the second one is quite good (skip the first). I enjoyed it and kind of wish Norton was invited back for the rest of the series, but Ruffalo fit the part perfectly so it's not too upsetting.

It's not a bad movie and it has its moments. Norton was fired because he supposedly was difficult to work with.

It got great reviews so I'm in. Heck - it sounds fun the more I read. And what's another 2 hours in the grand scheme of the Marvel movies anyway !

The Spidey movies are, if nothing else, fun. Wisecracking Peter Parker as Spiderman was my favorite comic to read as a tween/teen in the mid-late 70's. I've actually enjoyed them all from the Tobey Maguire versions, to Andrew Garfield (though he's definitely 3rd place) to the current Tom Holland. Far From Home - which occurs after End Game so might not be quite as essential as Homecoming for the whole MCU journey - got some mixed reviews for having a lot of high school angsty drama but it was funny and clever, and Zendaya is terrific. However the ending is HUGE and mandatory viewing for what's coming next.
I also really liked Into the Spider-Verse, and IMO it is one of the most successful attempts at literally translating the comic book visual style to the big screen.

Anyone ever have two projectors installed at the same time? I've had 3 " stacks ". " Stack " #1 - an NEC HT 1000 / Optoma H79 stack, in an enclosed double soffit ventilated by an exhaust fan. Probably 2006.

Nice, I've thought about getting one of those mics and setting up REW. Not sure what it's going to really help me with other than maybe figuring out where to try and put some sort of sound dampening that's living room friendly. Can't really move speakers anywhere other than playing with toe-in.

Change your vertical scale to every 5hz. Every 10 make the measurement look flatter than it actually is. Yes, this is a huge rabbit hole. :) For me it has lead to new speakers, new subs, more subs and more amps. Also to a baffle wall system and EQ devices like MiniDSP 10x10HD's and a couple DBX Driverack PA2's. That cheap little mic can get very expensive. :)

Since my equipment is remote located, I have a long USB cable run to my rack, a spare HDMI cable to my rack and a 75' XLR cable. :)

Calibrating with a laptop made having cables to connect everything to the laptop essential. I'm going to work on the subs again tonight and see if I can improve things now that I've done it once and know how to set everything up.

Once you figure out to get all the subs to play nice together for maximum output the rest is relatively simple (especially with the newer Mini-DSP). This may arguably be the best upgrade I've ever done to my system although the learning curve was rather steep. It was well worth the time invested.

Did another run through last night using the video as a guide. Not a perfect curve but better. Added EQ. Ran Audyssey. Tested some movies. WOW ! For some reason everything sounds better - not just the bass, and the bass is tight and hits hard at times. The beginning of The Greatest Showman is better than ever. I might need to replace my old PC12 Plus subs - they struggle to keep up with the pairs of SB2000's in front. Rabbit hole but a fun one !

I'm quite pleased at the improvement not only with bass but in the overall sound, although I did move my wides and L / R a bit. The Mini DSP is worth the effort. LFE is off the charts but tight, and fast. More changes coming !

Time to updated my build thread ( " finished " - ha ! ). Two new SVS SB4000's to replace the PC12 Plus subs. Watched a couple of movies with friends over the weekend ( Baby Driver on 4K and Lawrence of Arabia on 4K ). Both sounded outstanding !
Bass in my theater has gone to another level now for sure. With a pair of SB2000's on either side of my screen in front of my theater, and now a pair of SB4000's to replace the PC12+ subs on either side in back, it's killer. So far, using the Mini DSP HD - WOW ! The bass is amazing! Tight and fast, and you can certainly feel it. No downside in my room going from ported to sealed. Love it ! The subs all play well together.

Re-vamped the main L / R position ( slightly wider ), and the SB2000's were matched output wise to the SB4000's. Quite the pain moving subs back and forth, but worth it I'd say.

Wow Craig, looks and obviously sounds great. I did wonder about you using the SB versions instead of PB, but with the quantity of subs you have the individual output needs aren't as important so having the tighter sealed models makes sense. I feel fortunate to have schlepped a couple of Hsu VTF-15Hs into my living room (1 front, 1 reart) before moving into our house a few years back, but without a dedicated room that's it for me.

That would be two on each side - the maximum I can fit up front. And two SB2000's are a good match output wise with a SB4000. The idea is to have enough " overkill " built in so the subs aren't straining when playing " Midway " or " Hacksaw Ridge ".

With the red velvet curtains in place, nobody has a clue where the bass is coming from, other than seeing the SB4000's behind them.

It's pretty close. They are the same distance from the back of the couch. The SB4000 on the opposite side from the equipment rack is offset due to the popcorn machine - maybe an 18" difference. Using a Mini DSP HD to adjust them, it doesn't seem to matter. The room isn't symmetrical - it's enclosed on that side and open the the exit hallway on the other side. I have moved from seat to seat along all 14' of couch - tactile bass feeling is now ( thanks to Mini DSP, 30 bass traps and the SB4000's ) very even from seat to seat. It's about as even in every seat as I'd hoped for. I'm sure I can improve it - and I might try and move that sub a little to make it more even - and run REW and the Mini DSP again. When the heat wave power failures are over. A power failure in the middle of that would be a disaster.

Now that I have started using REW and a MiniDSP HD, the sealed subs don't lack for anything over ported in my theater. I find with movies like " Baby Driver " or " Bohemian Rhapsody " or " Rocket Man ", bass is incredibly tight and fast. And you can certainly feel it. The Tiger tank in " Fury " still makes the room shake as much as the ported cylinders too. Too bad I didn't have room for 4 SB4000's - one in each corner. It would have made level matching them so much easier! I now have nearly identical bass and tactile LFE feel in all 6+ seats spread over 14' of sectional sofa ! That was the goal. It's incredibly even from seat to seat, and the " boomy " or " bloated " bass I tended to have at times prior to installing the 29 bass traps is also gone. Took a lot of time, effort and some money, but mission accomplished !
The tunnel gun fight part of John Wick 2 sounds better than ever !

Things I need to improve my theater - the new Lumagen firmware coming out next week.
The new DTS audio firmware coming this fall for full 13 channels / wide speakers.
One improvement for video, one for audio.
I have a few other new things coming - but more on that later !

A few speakers upgrades. Replaced my Martin Logan Motion FX surround speakers with their EM FX2 surrounds. Because I can, and was curious the difference. They aren't rear ported like the Motion FX, which works better in at least 2 of the locations.

I think the larger tweeters have a little more detail at times. I think they can play louder with less chance of distortion too. And over the last year, I've added both lots of room treatments and lots of power ( and way more watts subwoofer wise - 14,000 watts peak ) - so I am playing movies louder, since they sound cleaner overall.

Thanks for your the kind words. I love home theater, and I think my current setup will keep me happy for years at this point. I can't wait for Covid to be over so I can have a packed house for movie nights again. Next year hopefully.

I just crossed the 4 year mark using my RS4500. It arrived Feb. 2nd, 2017. I had it installed on Feb. 5th, 2017. I've had 4 years of great watching movies and shows with friends and my wife - so far !
This projector has only gotten better over those 4 years too !

Having twin SVS SB4000's two feet from the back of the sofa is providing amazing tactile bass feel ! I'm loving the move to 6 sealed subs. Great with music too !

The sound on the 4K disc is very good ( great bass ) and the picture excellent for a 27 year old film.

I don't find that to be the case - it's really about two lonely, damaged individuals. It gets better on repeat viewings. Never watch the theatrical cut though.

And an unwilling mentor. Matilda was too young to even know what love is. Leon - a guy who's only friend was a house plant, found despite everything, actually cared for her. A wonderful / unconventional relationship story. And a black comedy at times !

I'm still getting used to the RS4100, after nearly 6 years with my RS4500. I didn't use the color filter on the RS4500, but my RS4100 is calibrated with the filter for both SDR and HDR - in mid laser. Color looks more nuanced / truer to me. I find my RS4100 to be just as sharp, but it looks " different ". I'm using mode 3 laser dimming. On the RS4500 I used the less aggressive mode 2 dimming. Contrast looks slightly better on the RS4100, with no artifacts using mode 3. This also gives the RS4100 a higher contrast in those mixed scenes - higher intra-scene contrast, that even my guests noticed. The full fade to black is super dramatic - my RS4500 didn't do that. My wife even commented on how dark the room got - total blackness!
I have had HDMI issues, so I needed a new cable. My old cable did not play nice with the new projector. But syncing is much faster.
There are a lot of small improvements that do add up. I am glad to have made the move.

It was so hot in my attic installing wiring for speakers 14 & 15 now that my Denon A1H is here, I need to rewatch " Bridge On The River Kwai " for the " hot box " scenes. :-X

Just more 4K Blu-ray discs. The theater is excellent the way it is. Upgrading lots of older movies when they get remastered in 4K is the only upgrade over the last couple of years!
