Plot
Ex-Marine and hardened Arizona rancher Jim Hanson (Neeson) simply wants to be left alone as he tries to make a living on an isolated stretch of borderland. But everything changes when he witnesses 11-year-old migrant Miguel (Perez) and his mother (Ruiz) fleeing from a band of assassins sent by a ruthless drug cartel. After being caught in a shoot-out, Miguel’s mother begs Jim to take her son to the safety of their family in Chicago. Defying law-enforcement, Jim and Miguel hit the road and slowly begin to forge an unlikely friendship, while the cartel’s relentless assassins blaze a bloody trail, hot on their heels.
My Thoughts
Ever since Taken became a box office smash, Liam Neeson has been cast to showcase his certain set of skills for a multitude of theatrical projects. In this one he’s an ex-Marine who makes one decision that puts him in the crosshairs of a deadly Mexican drug cartel. This is one of those “check your brain at the door” type production and it’s a fun ride as long as you don’t think too hard or deep about it. The leaps of logic that are necessary to keep the story going are a bit much, but Neeson does his usual bang-up job and overall, I was entertained by the execution.

Conclusion
This definitely falls into the mindless entertainment genre and is a solid effort from Neeson. The presentation is good, and you’ll definitely be entertained for two hours. If you like the star’s other roles, then you’ll surely enjoy this film even though it doesn’t break any new ground. Give it a rent.
