New firmware available. Contact Craig or I for info on this.
-
The main benefit is minor improvements to performance with JVC's Auto Calibration Software.
-
I'm guessing it doesn't make it any simpler to configure it for use with the Envy or Lumagen (Straight Gamma with BT2020) with auto-switching?

Correction - Gamma 2.2 with BT2020 is absolutely an option for a user preset so it can be used with the auto pic. mode select.

Can the Envy not switch the Installation mode on the JVC (via IP control) based on source type (like SDR vs HDR)?
madVR PC can do this.

With the Envy and Control4, or other IP-based Automation system, it would definitely be possible to switch the JVC to the proper Picture Mode for each type of content. I'd have to give some thought to whether the Envy could do it on its own - at first glance, I wouldn't think so. But I'm not certain about this. Interesting that the PC version of madVR can do this.
With 3.10 or 3.11 JVC Firmware, though, this isn't necessary, so it would be nice if JVC tweaked things so that this would work as easily with 3.50.

Are you saying that for the HDR Auto-select Picture Mode, that you can now choose a 'power' Gamma (like 2.2, 2.4)? That is not possible with 3.50, and as best I understand, you have to use JVC's Autocal software to import a custom gamma to accomplish this.
A 'regular' Picture Mode can be configured to BT2020 and 2.4 or 2.2 Gamma, but not the one that it would use for Auto-select when it sees the HDR flag.

I didn't see your edit previously, Craig.
With 3.50, Gamma 2.2 (or 2.4, etc.) with BT2020 is currently available in a 'regular' User Picture Mode, but not with the User Picture Modes available in the HDR "Auto-select" Menu.
I just wanted to confirm that you're saying this has changed, and a Power Gamma is available within the HDR "Auto-select" Menu with Firmware 3.51.
If so, that makes a huge difference in simplifying setup when used with the Envy, Lumagen, etc.
Thanks.

My comment was a direct response from JVC. I'll see what they say.

Correct - If you don’t use auto then it is an option.

Gotcha. So nothing has changed here. That's unfortunate for those who want the projector to auto-switch, who don't have some other type of hardware or automation to handle this.
I think the madVR guys are planning on adding this ability to the Envy down the road, so that will help for those users.
Thanks for checking.
