Title: MacIntosh 170
Post by: Barry on September 09, 2020, 03:36:18 PM
Does anyone have any opinion on the MacIntosh 170 Surround Sound pre-amp. As I mentioned I am looking to replace my Krell 707 with a pre-amp that does Dolby Atmos and 4k, among other new things.

I have looked at many, including Marantz, Bryston, Denon, JBL, Trinnov, Lyngoorf and many others. This seems to be the closest to the Krell, having balanced inputs as well as outputs. It is also a brand that has been around for quite a while and there are “repair” facilities available for the future.
