Plot
If they hear you, they hunt you. In this terrifying suspenseful thriller, a family must navigate their lives in silence to avoid mysterious creatures that hunt by sound. Knowing that even the slightest whisper or footstep can bring death, Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and Lee (John Krasinski) Abbott are determined to find a way to protect their children at all costs while they desperately search for a way to fight back.
My Thoughts
This is the films second release on UHD and is timed to coincide with the sequel hitting theaters shortly. This special edition comes in a Mondo X Steelbook collaboration #38 and features exclusive artwork inspired by Matt Tyan Tobin’s atmospheric poster highlighting the film’s iconic red string lights. This is my second viewing of the film and I enjoyed it just as much as the first time. It starts a bit slow but once you understand the situation that the family is placed in it starts to move briskly and keeps you wildly entertained until the very end. The action is great, the gore is kept to the absolute minimum and fits in with the story that’s being told and isn’t meant to gross out the audience. The acting from Blunt and Krasinski is top notch as well.
In addition to a wonderfully entertaining and suspenseful film, the A/V quality is excellent. The video is sharp and has excellent color saturation. The only knock is some slight black crush in some darker scenes. The Atmos track is outstanding in the way it conveys the natural sounds of the exterior environments and when the monsters attack—wow, look out because your subwoofer gets quite a workout!
Video 9.5/10

Conclusion
This is a very authentic film from beginning to end. The casting is perfect all around and the chemistry between the two stars is great—not surprising since the two are married. The kid actors are all great as well, especially the deaf young lady who plays Regan (Millicent Simmonds) and Noah Jupe as her younger brother. Throw in an excellent A/V presentation and the Steelbook pacakaging and this one is easy to recommend.
