Yesterday was the launch of Disney Plus..
Per avclub (https://news.avclub.com/disney-already-has-over-10-million-users-1839832337),
It may have suffered some technical hiccups (https://news.avclub.com/disney-consumed-by-technical-issues-on-launch-day-1839799708) on launch, but Disney+ (https://tv.avclub.com/tag/disney-plus) is already massively successful for Disney, which reports that over 10 million people signed up for the streaming service in its first day.
Anybody here signed up yesterday to be part of that 10 million user base??

Yep, signed up and watched The Mandalorian twice.;D Also, all the Star Wars have been given the 4K DV/DA love. The Mouse is bringing out the big guns.

I didn't sign up, but my daughter did and I'm using her account. Watched the first episode of "The Mandelorian," which is very good, but the show paused 6 times in 40 minutes. Lots of day one glitches. Also, their HDR doesn't broadcast the MaxCLL and MaxFALL of the stream, so the gamma is a bit too dark for my JVC to handle the tonemapping properly. Hopefully that's something they fix, but then again, Disney is notorious for NOT providing it on the UHD discs too :(
I ended up watching some of Episode 1 and Episode IV just to see how they did with the 4K. In both cases, it looked about Blu-ray quality, but they did do a good job with the Atmos upmixes.

It allows up to 4 users on the account, so it's within the TOS.

I signed up for the 7 day free trial via my Apple TV 4K. I don't intend to continue the subscription; for now at least.
I took a peek at several titles; I wasn't that impressed with The Mandalorian first episode.
When I got to Toy Story 3, I couldn't stop watching. I have never seen any streaming source look this good. I watched it all the way through.

Au contraire mon frère. While the OT will never be reference demo quality, this is the best they've ever looked. In fact, I read this is a complete 4K remaster. Watching the Cloud City battle in Empire was a blast. The downside is you can see how cheesy some of the sets and mattes are. Makes it fun tho. Plus, Atmos audio. C'mon man. This is a win no matter how you slice it, yo. ;)

Hopefully Disney + uses multi factor authentication. The only way to go with streaming for protection. :)

I live in Santa Ana, CA and the Disney+ channel does not show anything in 4K...my HDMI cables are certified...and I don't know what the problem is.

My brother-in-law has an account and we're going to watch the Mandalorian in my theater. We are going to try and cast it via Chromecast but we have the newest Firestick HD if that doesn't work.
I'll report back how it works.

It seems to be nearly universally acknowledged that there is a problem with The Mandalorian's HDR - darker scenes consistently appear too dark. I have found this both on my Sony 900E series TV, and I actually just checked it out on my JVC NX7, with a Roku Premiere+ being the source.
I watched "6 Underground" using this same Projector and Source last night, on Netflix, and the picture quality was astounding.
Watching The Mandalorian was underwhelming - dark scenes were dark, and had no pop.
Vincent Teoh has a YouTube video on this subject, documenting that there are problems with the HDR encoding here. If I remember right, there was a possibility that it was actually SDR, in an HDR container. But I'm not certain about that being a correct recollection.
In any case, report back on what you see - I'm curious.

I'm using the ROKU Ultra. My projector is the JVC Refence 2000 4K model. I am using the Marantz AV8805 top of the line AV receiver.

Ensure that the Roku is set to 4K output (go into the settings and double check). Do you get UHD with Netflix or Amazon? If so, you may want to uninstall the Disney+ app, unplug the Roku to force a reboot, then reinstall Disney+.

I watched the first three episodes of The Mandalorian tonight on Disney +.
We streamed it off the app, on an iPhone, to a Chromecast connected, to my Anthem AVM-60. Overall I was fairly impressed with the AV presentation. There were no audio dropouts or buffering. The video looked pretty good. Actually, it looked much better than I was expecting. While the audio wasn't as dynamic and engaging as the typical big-budget action film on Blu-ray, it was better than any broadcast network show and a good many titles that I have streamed on Amazon Prime. The Anthem said the audio was DD+.
I really enjoyed the story too but I'll not get into that just in case some of you haven't watched it yet.

I appreciate that advice. I doubt I will make it out to see The Rise of Skywalker in the theater. My closest theater is a bit of a drive and I'm vowing to stay out of Holiday traffic.
Maybe after the "new" wears off and all the kids start back to school.

We are going on Saturday at 12:20. We couldn't get into the "Best" theater at the multiplex (sold out for a solid week unless we wanted to sit in the first row), so we had to settle for the next theater down. Hopefully the movie is better than "The Last Jedi," which made me wish that Jar Jar was back on the screen.

I binged "The Mandalorian" and I must say, I liked it very much.
I am looking forward to the second season..
