The Incredible Hulk in 4k
This was the second movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the only one to “fire” its main star. The 4K edition adds to the details and the color that was in the blu-ray. It is wonderful, although not a huge step up. The surround is loud and directional and dos a bit to the movie.
Here, scientist Bruce Banner (Ed Norton) is working on the super-soldier serum. This serum, when properly used, turned Steve Rogers into Captain America. But instead of using Zeta Ray, Banner uses Gamma Ray and is turned into the Jolly Green Goliath. Here, the military is part villain because their secrecy leads to the giant mistake.
The Army pursues Banner and the Hulk and they create another Gamma monster, the Abomination. It is very common in super-hero movies for the hero to fight another version of himself. Of course the Hulk does so here too.
Norton was a writer on the movie and publically complained about how it was shot. He refused to do publicity for it. So he was fired and Mark Ruffallo replaced him.
The movie differs from the original comic. First, Banner, like Tony Stark, was a weapons builder. He built a Gamma Bomb, aimed at Russia (in 1962 during the cold war) and got caught in the test explosion. The army pursued him in the comics too.
As part of the MSU Tony Stark, Iron Man, meets up with the general at the end of the movie, letting him know about the Avengers Intuitive. There was a reference to Captain America’s super serum earlier and a brief mention of SHIELD in a memo. Not in the movie, but can be seen in the extras, in Banner at the North Pole and Captain America buried in the ice. The movie was definitely watchable but I felt like I had seen too much of it before. 2.5 stars out of 4. The Leader, a transformed green skin genius was also kinda introduced.
By the way, the Hulk was originally gray colored, not green.

You are quite knowledgeable on these comics. Can't say I've read any ( maybe a Mad Magazine back in the day ). Just like reading the book and then seeing a movie made from a book, some of these movies may be more enjoyable not knowing how far they deviated from the comics. Sort of an " ignorance is bliss " kind of thing.
