I just saw that ABC is going to do a reboot of "The Jefferson" and "All in the Family".

Why do all these reboots, etc?
Make more original programming instead.
The old shows were great. No need to redo them...

There are original shows that pop up from time to time. You must admit that is some interesting casting there - I might watch an episode just to see those two actors.

We tend not to want to think of it this way but creativity goes to where the most money is. Talent is attracted to money. Broadcast TV is NOT the place to go now.
And creativity comes from the individual, not a corporation. Now that Networks cam own most of their shows, talent is looking elsewhere. Not only will the TV networks own what you have created, they will alter and change it. And cast it. In the 1970s, when the stations were barred from owning everything and had to buy programs from outside producers, we got All in the Family, Hill Street Blues and so on.
Streaming and stations such as HBO gave David Chase (Sopranos) and many other creators great latitude in creating their programs. And the creators can get a lot more money.
TV is not dying. But like radio ofa century ago, it will have to change. And it will.
PS The Jeffersons/All in the Family is not a reboot, but a one hour special with celebrities taking over the roles. It is a fun look back.

Thanks Barry. Yes, in the end, it is always about the money..
Talent will go where the money goes and that is definitely not broadcast TV.
Money is all in streaming now, netflix, amazon prime, etc.
