How is your lamp holding up ? My RS600 so far ( all measurements in low lamp ) -
Brand new - 12 / 8 / 2015 - 285 Lux = 1161.98 lumens.
1 - 6 - 2016 ( 45 hours on lamp ) - 272 Lux = 1108.98 lumens.
11 - 21 - 2016 ( 258 hours on lamp ) - 224 Lux = 913.27 lumens.
Looks like I'm down about 21% from new. With my Stewart Cima Neve I can still get 22.89 foot lamberts in low lamp ( iris open ) and easily get 16 or 17 foot lamberts with the manual iris closed down a bit.

You need to get a light meter. How do you know how many foot lamberts you are watching at ?

Nice to see someone documenting the lamp cycle, im exited to see how many hours you will get out of the lamp.
Been thinking abour buying a RS500/ 600 for comparison purpose, but will wait to they get cheaper.

i dont know to be honest....my previous PJ when caliobrated locally was at 16Fl...and this is noticeably brighter...so more than that? lol...I should get it calibrated professionally....and/or a meter

That would certainly slow the dimming. Too bad there aren't more choices of home theater projectors with laser or LED under $ 20K. There are a few. In fact we have a couple for sale at AV Science. But I'd like to see more.

Chad B is a great choice. I'm hoping to get him out in December for my RS500.

We compared Craig's meter with mine, and mine showed about 25% higher readings. It appears mine would be a good deal if you are just concerned with monitoring light loss over time where a better meter would be better to verify you have the light output you want.

25%...Ouch! That's out of range even for govt work. So, no saving that $23. But worth more than that to know the difference...Thanks for the comparison!

Just to be clear this was compared to Craig's Meter not the $40 one. Craigs Meter was the 2nd one linked at $179.

So, I haven't yet taken my Black Friday $80 Spyder 5 Express out of the box, and now you're saying I need to spend a c-note more first to tell me how gloriously bright is the light from my RS400?
Are you sure Craig's meter isn't reading 25% low?
Two other questions come to mind: 1) Is the $17 meter linear in its error, and 2) How can we get a comparison including the $40 meter?

We don't know which one is correct... I am assuming Craig's is as it is way more expensive. Neither one of us has a professional verified calibrated one.

If you have a JVC RS400/500/600 you dont have any financial issues whatsoever.. More like having a problem finding a spot in the garden where you have not already been hiding money.
And a projector like that deserve to be tweaked to perform its best at all times, so i cant imagine anyone having a problem spending the money needet to get the right gear for the job.. Most might have a problem to find out how to actually use the tool, and if thats the case its best just to pay someone to do it every 200-300 hours.

No... we just compared the 2 to see if they came up with the same readings, which they didn't.

Yes it does pose a problem without having a calibrated meter to compare to... I am assuming that a more expensive meter would have a better chance of giving a more accurate reading, but I don't know. All we have proven is that 2 different meters can give 2 different results.

Except my AEMC CA813 has produced readings that were consistent with others - 970 lumens for the RS4910 in high lamp, 1150 lumens for my RS600 in low lamp etc. Ron's cheap meter read about 28% higher than mine. Adding 28% to those numbers I just posted would be outside the norm of what other people with better meters than mine have gotten measuring those projectors. About 28% higher. Just FYI.
