I watched this movie last night for the first time. While I don't consider myself to be a big super hero movie fan ( I like some, but not everything ), I thought this movie was really well done, and had an interesting plot. Set design, costuming, picture and soundtrack were all excellent. This is a great 4K demo disc. Detail on the amazing costumes just pops from the screen on 4K. The soundtrack has great LFE, and the mix makes use of surround speakers perfectly ( my guests made mention ot that specifically ). Recommended!

UPDATE - I revised the audio down a point after watching this movie a 2nd time. It doesn't have the LFE compared to quite a few other movies. Although the audio track is still pretty darn good. You'll need to crank it up - I had it a 77.5 last night, and my wife didn't ever say it was too loud.

I'll probably be watching this tonight. I saw it at a local Dolby Cinema when it was out, and was pretty impressed overall.
Many reviews commented on the sound track being not particularly dynamic, and requiring the overall sound level to be pushed up 10db or so from where they usually run theirs.
Did you find this to be the case?

I definitively found the soundtrack lacking. Use if surround was nice but yes. Lack of dynamics. And just ok bass

I thought the PQ was top notch as well. Shadow detail was excellent especially in the low APL scenes and just really nice imagery in general.
I did notice less dynamic range with the audio, however, I was not as bothered by it as some.

Not in my theater, but I just installed subwoofer 3 and 4, and re - calibrated my system. I could certainly feel the bass in the room - the sectional sofa vibrated at times ( and the guests mentioned that ). And I was only running it at maybe 75 ( -5 ) - typical for a lot of movies in my theater. Disney movies - just turn up the volume. Nolan movies - be careful turning up the volume ( Interstellar and The Dark Knight Rises could blow a speaker ). Not all movies are mixed the same.

Yes, it needed to be set a bit higher, but not as high as " The Last Jedi ". I once watched The Dark Knight set at 80 ( reference ) and it was perfect for my " we like it loud " friends. The next night they came over to watch " The Dark Knight Rises ". All the same box set of Blu-rays. I had left it at 80 - just like the night before. My friend Kelly said " do you smell something burning ? " as the room absolutely shuddered under a sheetrock nail popping blast of sound. The smell was coming from the SVS PC12+ cylinder sub behind us, toasting under incredible LFE. The moral of the story - not all movies soundtracks are mixed the same. Some are loud at 72, some need to be at 75, some need to edge 80 and some will blow your center channel or sub if you set it at 80.

I will say the soundtrack had a lot of delicate sounds and sound effects coming out of the surround speakers !

Update - now that I have my Denon X8500, and Parasound A 52+ amp running the wides channels and the L / C / R speakers, this soundtrack sounds really really good ! But - I have my X8500 set to 85 ! Four subwoofers helps too. :-X

Even after 1100 hours of watching my RS4500, 4K movies like this just look stunning! The thrill has not worn off !

Those pictures of black panther on your rs4500 are amazing looking! i am going .to watch Widows tonight i have added some subs to my room. i have 2 monolith 12's and now a monolith 15 and bought a minidsp 2x4 and umik1 mic to try to dial in my room. lets see if i can wake the kids tonight ;D

craig, how do you like the 2 sb2000 you have?? any reason you went with those instead of ported ones? do they play nice with your other 2 cylindar subs>?

One reason - so I could hide them behind the velvet curtains in the front of the room. They just fit. I recently checked whether the SB3000's would fit. Nope - too deep. I don't have room for anything larger, but with the twin PC12 Plus subs in the rear, it's just perfect ! The bass isn't boomy, but you can feel it easily during lots of scenes. In Black panther, the final fight scene on the magnetic train tracks makes the room feel like it's vibrating when the train goes by. It's a crowd pleaser in my theater for sure ! .50 caliber machine gun fire in Fury is easily felt too. 4 subs - 2 front, 2 rear, really are an improvement !!

thaks for the review! pics look incredibly sharp! i have fury and heard it has good lfe on soundtrack but havent watched it yet..so im excited to watch it hopefully tonight it with my 2 monolith 12s and monolith 15. ;D

No. I ran a test tone and used my Radio Shack SPL meter to get each one identical output wise. That has gotten it sounding great. I considered a mini dsp, but I doubt I could get it much better. The sound in my room currently sounds better than ever. Now I hesitate to change anything for a while !
