Supposedly a true story of CIA hiring a TWA pilot and he using what is asked of him to make his own money (since the CIA isnt paying him) and he makes a TON of it
I really enjoyed this movie...Tom C. was GREAT in it....i really like these movie like this..War Dogs..etc
4k was really great,....super colorful and awesome black levels...the airplane shots over the jungles was just outstanding to look at
Sound was solid but nothing demo worthy
worth a view...Rental approved

Saw that too last week. Enjoyable film nothing spectacular on the A/V front but definitely worth a viewing in my book.

Just saw this a couple of weeks ago and noticed your review. I was really interested in this because I grew up in Baton Rouge where Barry Seal was from, and where he was assassinated.
The CIA thing is a fiction for the movie, as are some other details. He did become a DEA informant, though. The move is more "inspired by" Seal's life.

Ya, I really enjoyed this movie, as did all my guests. I read up on Seal's life afterwards too. His real story was pretty bizarre.
A lot of the time the picture on the 4K Blu-ray looked great. I think they made the picture look a bit " retro " at times to better match some of the archive footage, similar to what they did with " Argo ". I'll watch this movie again with friends that haven't seen it - worth another spin for sure.

I enjoyed this as well, and was intrigued to read the "real" story behind the movie.
I was wondering about the almost 'kodachrome' type look some scenes had, seemingly somewhat oversaturated. Made me wonder if my setup was a bit off (RS400, using Custom Curves). But then I played it on my Sony 75x900E, which is a 4k/HDR set, and those scenes looked the same. So I think Craig is right, about the intent of the film to bring you back to the time it's portraying.

I watched it last night - thought it was okay. I was expecting it to better though.
Yes, as far as the look, it was unique. The odd color and saturations were definitely intended to give the feel of the era as well as the locations and general theme of the movie. I recall reading it was intended to look a little 'documentary' as well. Some of the detail could be impressive where as other times scenes were softer.
Watching Blade Runner 2049 tonight.
