The Official Seymour AV / Seymour-Screen Excellence Discussion
« on: November 05, 2016, 11:26:18 AM »
Welcome to the official thread where we can discuss Seymour AV and Seymour-Screen Excellence film screens.  From DIY, to differentiated high-value consumer-direct, to the most innovative designs and materials in the CEDIA industry, we're the leading performance-focused screen manufacturer.  Exporting screens TO China from our facilities in Iowa and England, we're also found in the screening rooms of media CEOs and the mastering rooms of the leading studios worldwide.  When the sound AND image matter, we'll happily put our solution up front and Center Stage.

Cheers,

I love my SeymourAV XD screen. When I ordered mine it was a custom size so it took a little longer to get, but I still had it very quickly. We made our own frame for the screen, and it went together very easily, and quickly. When we asked about making our own screen SeymourAV was very helpful, and we were able to have everything ready for the install by the time the screen material arrived. I would def recommend SeymourAV to anyone who wants a top notch screen!

I had to laugh when I read this line:

Not an owner, but they are on top of my short list. I still have a two or three months to figure it out.

I have been using EN4K in my screen for several years now. Great fabric.

Hi Chris. What's the skinny on this new higher gain AT material being shown with the RS4500 at AXPONA ?

If anyone is going to the AXPONA show, we'll be displaying with JTR speakers (room LaSalle-B) and the new JVC laser-phosphor RS4500 projector.  We'll be displaying the new Enlightor-Neo screen material on a 142" wide (159"d) image in 2.0 ratio.  It'll be calibrated by Michael Boeker, and we'll no doubt have helpful oversight from Kris Deering (he reviewed the 4500 for S&V) and Ken Whitcomb.

We'll have more information on the Enlightor-Neo's specifications as we get final production material, as I may have some further tweaks to make as we equip the loom.  The short story is it's an ultra-matte, mid-gain (for a woven AT material), with improved acoustic permeability.  For the AVSers with our Seymour AV products, think of it as a finer, matter version of the Center Stage UF.

I hope to see you there!

Cheers,
Chris

I would like to use the largest AT screen-centerstage XD unity gain in 2.4:1 format.  Proj distance 20' with isco IIIL, seating at 16' light controlled rm.  What's the biggest screen with about 14ft-lb brightness that the RS4500 can accommodate?  Looking at projectorcentral, the numbers seem overly optimistic with brightness.  Appreciate input from all users who now are very familiar with the nuances and capabilities of the RS 4500.  I currently have RS500 with 136" scope screen and would like to go to 170" wide!!!

I think mark_h on this forum is using a 180" diagonal 2.35:1 screen with a JVC RS4500. With an A lens, I'd say it would be bright enough, but you would want to devise a hush box or other solution to isolate the sound of the projector from the theater room, so you could run in high laser mode.

By using an anamorphic lens you're able to use the center 16:9 portion for image area (64.4 sq.ft.)  Assuming a 10% transmissive loss through the lens you'd need 1000 calibrated lumens to hit 14fL on a 170" wide scope screen with the Center Stage XD.  That would be super easy with the RS4500 with light to spare for low lamp setting, future aging, HDR, contrast-increasing aperture closing or further mounting away.

Chris

At least the mid setting should be able to do 14 foot lamberts. For HDR you might want to be able to run high laser though.

It looked very good, would love to know what gain it was.
JVC-RS4500 4k projector, Lumagen Pro, ST130 138" scope screen,
Panasonic DMP-UB900 & Plex Media Server
Classe SSP-800, Bryston amplification, Wilson Audio speakers (7.2) + Buttkickers.

Final specs won't be known until US production gets going, but I'd expect (unbenchmarked) 0.8 / (benchmarked) 1.0

Chris
