2017 Marantz AVR Owner's thread (NR1508, NR1608, SR5012, SR6012, SR7012, SR8012)

The new 2017 "slimline" NR1508 and NR1608 models have been released and now available for purchase.  Call for pricing and to discuss whether these models are appropriate for your setup.  The SR series should be released on the following schedule: SR5012 - June/July; SR6012 - August; SR7012 - September; SR8012 - December

New features added:
- Bluetooth Version 3.0, Class 1 - up to 98ft/30m
- Audyssey iOS/Android phone app ($20) - using the Audyssey mic, provides the ability to customize target curves, save them on the phone/tablet and send back to the AVR
- A built-in HEOS module which will allow streaming the (currently) 12 music services using the HEOS iOS/Android app to the AVR as well as allow streaming 2CH sources from the AVR (analog only on NR1508/NR1608, SR5012; analog + digital on SR6012/SR7012) to one or up ro 21 HEOS wireless speakers placed around the home
- Auto Update - (default - OFF), allows for firmware updates while the unit is in Standby
- 4K Signal Format (Standard (default)/Enhanced; Note: Enhanced setting must be used when passing 4K60,4:4:4, 10 bit video)
- SAVE & LOAD (to USB; replaces Web Control SAVE/LOAD)
- Disable Zone 2 operations using remote control
- Restart - (pressing/holding the power on button in lieu of having to pull power cable)
- Network Reset (excludes resetting “Amp Assign”, “Speaker Config.” and “Video” settings)
- DTS:X & DTS Neural:X pre-loaded at factory
- HDMI Diagnostics (installer troubleshooting)
- TV Sound Grouping (fixes 1 second audio delay experienced when playing cable/sat box audio to the surround speakers and HEOS speakers in other rooms) - April 12, 2017 firmware update
- Dolby Vision HDR (installed at factory)
- Hybrid Log Gamma (HLG) - via future firmware update

The latest firmware update to the HEOS app now allows for Network Sharing in which you can stream audio from a PC, MAC, or NAS Drive to HEOS speakers or to the HEOS AVR.

The DTS Virtual:X firmware update should be released this month for the NR1608 and SR 5012.  The SR6012/SR7012/SR8012 won't get the update until next Spring.   This features simulates height audio when there are no height speakers configured when playing DTS audio.

After a 1 week delay, the SR8012 (11CH) model has been released.  We expect our first order to arrive on Tuesday, Dec 5 and should be able to ship out our current pre-orders the same day.  Call if interested in this new model.
