I guess they figured people would not like carry a 55 gal drum into their room. Just kidding. It would not be hard to do. Sonotube is made plenty large enough to do so.

Greetings,

I am interested in the PB-16 Ultra as a replacement for my tried and true PB-13 Ultra. Waiting to hear from several colleagues in the industry that just received them for review.

Regards,

These 16" models, especially the ported version, are really big and really heavy, but I'm sure they really pump out lots of very deep bass.  My tiny (by comparison) 12" SVS does the job for my HT, but I'm certain there will be enough bass addicts out there to make these 16" models a success.

imho they still seem overpriced for what they are....although the finish is second to none (if you care about showing them off)

The finish is the problem with DIY. If your subs show and you wanted a piano black high gloss finish, you would be hard pressed to do it at these price points, if you counted your billable hours to do so.

If you took your DIY cabinets to a cabinet builder to have them finished with a veneer it gets much more expensive too.

SVS had a demo of their SB 16 Ultra sub at CES yesterday. They had a 5.1.2 system with their Prime Series speakers. Sounded really good !  :)

A bit of info here, for folks that might take an SVS sub overseas -

The 4000 series and 16-Ultra are auto sensing for voltage ( 110 or 220 volt ). All other models can be configured to 220V on request. No extra charge.
